How to increase "god rays" impact?

Here I have some nice renders with fog interacting the native distant OV light, also called as “god rays”:

How can I increase this effect on air? I know I can increase the intensity of that distant light, but it is not affecting then so much more in my scene…

How can I increase the “thickness” of the fog that is catching the light?
I do not want to increase the amount of the blue fog in the train interior, since too much is too much.

I know this is kind of a kinky question, since RTX Path traced renderer tries to imitate real light, but still there must be some trick to do this right?

Most effective single setting, set the Diffuse multiplier to 0 for the distant light:
