I executed l4t_create_default_user.sh, but it didn't work

I use ubuntu18.04 and jetson nano 4G B01.This is my newly downloaded Linux_for_Tegra, which has been quickly started according to Introduction manual.
Because my core board doesn’t have emmc, I want to make a mirror image like the quick boot, which can be burned into the SD card to boot. So I used jetson-disk-image-creator.sh, and found that I needed to access the display after creation, so I wanted to create a mirror image without a display screen, and executed the script l4t_create_default_user.sh according to the official Skipping oem-config.

(base) book@100ask:~/workspace/Linux_for_Tegra/tools$ sudo ./l4t_create_default_user.sh -u book -p 123456
[sudo] password for book:
Creating: Username - book, Password - 123456, Autologin - false
useradd: user 'book' already exists

When finished, execute jetson-disk-image-creator.sh to generate a mirror image.

(base) book@100ask:~/workspace/Linux_for_Tegra/tools$ sudo ROOTFS_DIR=/home/book/workspace/Linux_for_Tegra/rootfs ./jetson-disk-image-creator.sh -o sd-blob-b01.img -b jetson-nano -r 100

Using the monitor, you can see that it is stuck in the following picture. It is useless for me to access the mouse and keyboard to control it.

Thank you for seeing this. I want to know which step I have a problem with.

Could you finish your user configuration on HDMI and then dump us the full dmesg? also, please share full bootloader log too.

Please do not truncate any log. We always need full log.

Sorry,I can’t do anything on HDMI, and nothing happens when I connect the keyboard and mouse.

Hi,

Then please remove “quiet” from your extlinux.conf in your rootfs (path should be /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf) and then reflash your board again.

Also, is this a pure BSP without change? I mean that spi error shall not happen with pure BSP.

It is also okay to do that if you can directly move the sdcard and let it get read on other platform.

Thanks for your reply!
I haven’t modified anything. I downloaded this BSP through official website. The BSP I used before had the same problem. I also suspected that I made the wrong modification, so I downloaded it again. If the same error still appears, I’ll download it again.
I deleted ‘quiet‘’ from the Linux_for_Tegra/rootfs/boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file.

Hi,

Let’s change this issue into another debug method here…

After you run l4t_create_default.user.sh, are you able to flash the board by using flash.sh and check if your usb still has problem?

Thank you. I don’t have emmc on my core board. When I started with SD card, I couldn’t find mmcblk0p1 device in the host /dev/ directory, so I’m not sure which command to use for flash.

You didn’t use sdkmanger to flash your board before?

Then your ~/workspace/Linux_for_Tegra/ is just for creating sdcard image? Didn’t use any tool from it to flash your board?

sdkmanager and flash.sh can flash the sdcard on jetson devkit too. So it does not matter you don’t have emmc on board.

Yes, because I can’t find < rootdev > in the picture, even though I have connected the development board to Ubuntu in Vmware, when I execute sudo./flash.shjetson-nano-devkit mmcblk0p1, I will be prompted that I can’t find mmcblk0p1.

No, it is not because of “mmcblk0p1”. That is not for the host to read.

The problem is you are using VM and we don’t support sdkmagner on VM.

Oh, my God, should I reconfigure a computer running Ubuntu? Because my current computer system is windows. Is it not supported by all virtual machine software?

Hi,

I just wonder one other point here. Did you put your board into recovery mode when you run the flash command? I mean, did you know that there is something called “recovery mode”?

I know there is recovery mode. Do I need to short two pins for jetson nano?

Yes, you need to short pin make sure the board is in rcm and start the flash.

If you are sure it is in rcm and flash script still told you “not in rcm”, then you may need to change to native ubuntu host.

Also, check your micro usb cable has data line or not. Some cheap cable only has power line.

I use the jumper cap to connect the J48 pin, so that the light near the micro usb is turned off, and then the power supply is connected. Is this the correct step to enter the recovery mode?

I’m not sure which pins are recovery pin and reset pin here.

I’ve solved it. Enter the burning model. The steps are as follows:

  1. Connect J48 with jumper cap.
  2. Connect FC REC and GND with jumper cap.
    Step 3 connect micro usb
  3. Connect the power supply and enter the burning mode.
Vmware virtual machine prompts NVIDIA APX devices, connects the virtual machine, and then executes flash.

Is it just stuck there?
