ImportError: libcuda.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (Ubuntu 16.04)

Hi, I’m new to Ubuntu, so am having trouble understanding how to navigate Ubuntu to get CUDA working properly.

I’m already installed CUDA drivers as well have a working graphics driver (I had to play around with a couple graphics drivers to get one work properly) , so it seems to be a link issue according to some ubuntu forums.

I asked already on a couple of forums but so far no help.

I have all the detailed information here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/997557/libcuda-so-1-not-found-despite-installing-cuda/997564?noredirect=1#comment1614116_997564

(as well as here)

I’ve done research for a couple of days, but can’t seem to find libcuda-so-1 but did find libcuda-so-7.

Not sure if there is a difference. Thank you.
