Inquiry regarding the possibility of removing the CYPD8225 when using only USB 2.0 (USB0_N/P) as the flashing port

We are currently designing a custom board equipped with a T5000 Module.

As mentioned in the title, please confirm whether the CYPD8225 is not required when using only the USB 2.0 (USB0_N/P) port as the flashing port after entering Recovery Mode.

In the past, when designing custom boards based on AGX ORIN, flashing to eMMC was not an issue when the CYPD4226 was not used; however, flashing to an external SSD failed because the AGX ORIN Module failed to enter Device Mode.

We designed the board to recognize VBUS_DET and USB_ID based on the guides in the forum, but the result was the same.

Although the THOR Design Guide states “Neither VBUS nor ID detection is needed,” we are making this inquiry to avoid repeating the same failure.

Hi,
For more information, so you would like to have the flashing port in type-C and always be in device mode?

That is correct.

I want to design the USB 2.0 (USB0_N/P) port to always be in Device Mode for flashing only, without performing a Role Change via the CYPD8225.

I will connect to the PC via a Type-C cable, but I intend to connect only VBUS, DP, and DM to the T5000, while keeping the SS Pair and CC floating on the custom board.

Hi,
Ideally this would work only as a flashing port. But after booting to the system, the port will be useless. Please note this.
