Hello NVIDIA team,
We are the Stony Brook Robotics Team at Stony Brook University in New York. Since 1995, We have been an active campus club + student design team. We have a tradition of assembling robots to compete in global competitions. Some of the recent competitions we attended include MechWafare in 2017 and the Mars Rover Challenge in 2019. However, due to the lack of funding and that we are a student-led team, we didn’t have enough budget to build a complete robot since the pandemic.
This year, we planned to compete in the MATE ROV World Championship in June. We have an electrical, mechanical, and software team working to complete this robot. So far, we have made great progress at building a float capable of handling a few tasks from the rubric.
However, we have been using our only Jetson Xavier NX dev kit for the past few years. It’s underpowered for our computing demands—such as running Computer Vision algorithms—which is slowing our progress.
Would it be possible for NVIDIA to sponsor us for the new Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer kit? It’s much more suited for our tasks and adds more security in case our old Jetson fails.
It’ll be greatly appreciated if we get it for free, but discount codes would be good as well. In return, we’ll advertise NVIDIA as a sponsor to our club events (8 per semester) and member community, which is over 200 people. Previously, we were sponsored by companies like DigiKey & SendCutSend and offered a lot of advertisement/exposure for them on the Stony Brook campus.
