Jetson Orin Nano to Switch: Transformerless Ethernet Connection?

I’m connecting the Jetson Orin Nano 8GB (900-13767-0030-000) native GbE MDI interface to a Microchip KSZ9477STXI Ethernet switch.

Microchip supports a transformerless PHY-to-PHY connection using series AC-coupling capacitors. Does the Jetson Orin Nano GbE PHY support this as well?

Does the recommendation change depending on how the two devices are connected, such as:

-Same PCB with short traces

-Separate PCBs connected through board-to-board cables/connectors

-Separate PCBs connected with a very short Ethernet cable

Thanks!

Please refer to the Jetson Orin NX Series and Orin Nano Series Design Guide for Ethernet connection.

While the Jetson Orin Nano module currently has an internal PHY, this component is subject to change in the future. Therefore, we recommend following the standard carrier board design, using a transformer and an RJ45 cable for the connection to the switch.
