[L4T 35.5.0] Questions about PCN212822, Orin Nano 8GB SOMs

Hello,

Our team is working on a camera using L4T 35.5.0 and the Orin Nano 8GB SOM.

We were notified about PCN212822 where a DRAM chip is being switched out. NVIDIA has recommended a new set of BCT and DTS files for the new SOMs (t234-dram-package-35.5.0_2024-09-18).

I had three questions about this, if you would be so kind:

  • If we make a new “SOM image” with these BCT and DTS files, can this “SOM image” be flashed to OLD Orin Nano SOMs without error? In other words, can we flash OLD SOMs that do not this new Micron DRAM chip with this new release?
  • Because this only seems to affect the SOM bootloader, we don’t need to make any changes to our OS or SSD, right?
  • We are trying to migrate to a L4T 35.6.1 image. Do you think this PCN will affect L4T 35.6.1?

Thank you for taking this time.

Yes

Just follow the instruction guide to integrate them. then without other issues.

Please use JetPack 5.1.5/L4T 35.6.2.

Thank you for this! Where can I find the instruction guide for integration?

Right now, we want to work on patching our L4T 35.5.0 img. How can we patch these changes in our build environment?

I am using jecptack 6.2. Do I need to apply the PCN 212822 patch? I can’t find this patch in the PCN Center.

There is currently no support in any public release for PCN 212822.
A new set of overlays will be published closer to the sample availability date: October 2025 on the PCN center, that will bring support to all releases.
