Laptop GPU suddenly not being detected

Hi,

I am suddenly having an issue where nvidia-smi and CUDA docker containers are failing. It seems that the issue comes from the fact that my machine is not detecting the GPU, neither with lspci (even after sudo update-pciids) nor with lshw. Here is the debug output:

I have tried re-installing the drivers and rebooting several times, and have seen no change since this suddenly started. Do I just need to open up my laptop and try to reseat the GPU?

The nvidia gpu is indeed gone, possibly broken. Since it’s soldered onto the mainboard, you can’t reseat it.
You could try to reset the mainboard by cutting power and removing the battery and then wait 30 minutes to discharge the mainboard.

Unfortunately, discharging the mainboard did not fix it. I will look into the warranty. Thanks for looking into it.
