Libargus latency with imx390 capture

Hi,

We are capturing from imx390 (1920x1080 30 fps) camera using libargus on xavier. we used argus api functions as well as gstreamer nvarguscamerasrc with optimal pipeline as suggested on various other posts. we are getting around 170-190 ms of latency. theses are our pipeline stages.

Imx390 → encoder(omxh264enc/nvv4l2h264enc)→rtsp. we have tried vlc with minimum cache lateny and other optimizations and ffplay as rtsp client. but there is no improvement.

is 170 ms latency is expected with 1920x1080 30fps camera? how we can optimize it?

FYI, we’ve test G2G (glass-to-glass) latency with 30-fps camera sensor, the G2G latency delay is around 128ms.
according to above, there should be some gap to improve the latency. you may see-also Orin FAQ for an example of running RTSP streaming.
