Device: MSI Katana A17 AI B8VG
dGPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Mobile 105W
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS (with Radeon 780m iGPU)
OS: Kubuntu 26.04
I will try to cut this short,
Normally my GPU draws up to 105W (80 + 25 dynamic boost) in Win11, when I try Ubuntu 24.04 (or other distros) my power draw is limited to 60W and with dynamic boost it is 85W. In Kubuntu 26.04 the power draw is limited to 55W and with dynamic boost it is 65W.
Afaik people with other laptops fixed this issue by activating dynamic boost and changing power mode in laptop settings (fn + some key), my laptop model doesn’t have changing power function like that (MSI Center has extreme performance, balanced, silent but none works).
Any idea on how to increase power limit to 105W?
Methods I have tried:
-
Enabling dynamic boost manually (already enabled at ubuntu 26.04)
-
Forcing performance modes
-
Different distros
-
MControlCenter
-
“sudo nvidia-smi -pl 105” results not supported problem
Below you can find “nvidia-smi -q -d POWER” output
