Meaning of lifetime estimiaton type A and type B

Hi!

I wonder the meaning of EXT_CSD_DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_A and EXT_CSD_DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_B. I see the following explanation in JESD84-B51, but I still cannot understand that what is type A, what is type B, and if there is any difference between them? Could you provide more detailed info on this?

7.4.22 DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_B [269]
This field provides an estimated indication about the device life time that is reflected by the averaged wear out of memory of Type B relative to its maximum estimated device life time.

7.4.23 DEVICE_LIFE_TIME_EST_TYP_A [268]
This field provides an estimated indication about the device life time that is reflected by the averaged wear out of memory of Type A relative to its maximum estimated device life time.

Please check the relevant JESD standard/documentation. Type A, Type B should be defined in there, if not suggest to raise query with them.

Alright. Thanks.

Hi, sgurasl. I found a “JESD220D”, in which it says:

This field provides an indication of the device life time based on the amount of performed program/erase cycles. The calculation method is vendor specific and referred as method A.

So I wonder if I should ask you for the meaning of life time A and B.

Please could you check with the Device/memory vendor?

From sysfs:

manfid=0x000045, oemid=0x0100, serial=0x41e8d51c. Could you tell me which vendor does it blongs to?
