MSI-GB-10 device does not recognise Samsung NVMe drive under boot options but lists under NVMe Configuration

Hello,

I seem to have run in to an issue similar to what has been described here - NVMe Write Failures on DGX Spark Founders Edition

It started with a kernel-panic mid update.

Now (post few weeks of troubleshooting) the device is not recognising the drive (I may have deleted the boot option from the UEFI menu from the drive at one point during troubleshooting but the understanding is that recovery should have fixed that!)

The os recovery step appears to complete successfully.

Refer screenshot.

The boot options that previously listed the Samsung Drive Option no longer lists it and only the -

a) UEFI - PXE IPv4 Realtek PCIe Controller

b) UEFI - USB - Recovery Drive

Options are listed.

<Note - This is my first post and I am only allowed two screenshots. I could possibly attach it as an answer below if or as required>.

However the Samsung NVMe is listed under NVMe Configurations and also under security tab if secure-boot is disabled (and few other configuration tweaks).

I’ve tried booting a live Ubuntu 24 LTS OS (through recovery USB) and it did not detect the Samsung-NVMe (only SDA - SDA1, SDA2, SDA3 were detected besides few ‘loop’ drives).

The diagnostic for NVMe fails. (Refer screenshot).

Should I consider sending it to OEM support (I am currently on this path) ? Is there anything else I should try ?

This looks like it is going to be an RMA in all honesty, do feedback on the MSI experience, I have two of these, quite pleased so far.

Looks like a dead SSD.

Hi, a failed NVMe Self-Test usually means there is a hardware issue. Please contact your manufacturer to request an RMA
