No boot up when connecting a CSI2 FPC input to CAM0

I am using a deserializer from AlliedVision which provides me a host connection as FPC which I connect to my CAM0, however, when I do this, the jetson will not boot up.

I have tried powering on seperately the deserializer first, then the jetson, and no luck.

I have then just tried connecting the FPC cable, no power from deserializer, and then powering the jetson, no boot up.

Is there some sort of conflict here?

Based on the provided context, it appears that you are experiencing issues with booting up your Jetson Orin Nano device when connected to a deserializer from AlliedVision. The deserializer provides a host connection as FPC, which you connect to your CAM0. You have tried powering on the deserializer first and then the Jetson, as well as connecting the FPC cable without power from the deserializer, but neither approach has resulted in a successful boot.

To troubleshoot this issue, let’s consider a few possible causes:

  1. Power conflict: It’s possible that the deserializer is drawing power from the Jetson Orin Nano’s CAM0 port, which could be causing a power conflict and preventing the device from booting. You can try using an external power source for the deserializer to see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Signal integrity: The FPC cable connection might be causing signal integrity issues, which could be preventing the Jetson Orin Nano from booting. You can try using a different FPC cable or checking the signal integrity of the current cable.
  3. Configuration conflict: There might be a configuration conflict between the deserializer and the Jetson Orin Nano. You can try checking the configuration settings of both devices to ensure they are compatible.
  4. Hardware compatibility: It’s possible that the deserializer is not compatible with the Jetson Orin Nano. You can try checking the documentation of both devices to ensure they are compatible.

To further troubleshoot the issue, you can try the following:

  1. Check the Jetson Orin Nano’s boot logs: You can check the boot logs of the Jetson Orin Nano to see if there are any error messages related to the deserializer or the CAM0 port.
  2. Use a different CAM port: If possible, try using a different CAM port on the Jetson Orin Nano to see if the issue is specific to the CAM0 port.
  3. Contact AlliedVision support: Reach out to AlliedVision’s support team to see if they have any specific recommendations for using their deserializer with the Jetson Orin Nano.

In comparison to other similar issues, it’s worth noting that the Jetson Orin Nano has a similar issue with the CSI-0 port, where the device may not boot properly if the CSI-0 port is not configured correctly (see “CSI-0 with MIPI 4 lane is not working properly” topic). However, in your case, the issue seems to be specific to the deserializer and the CAM0 port.

In summary, to resolve the issue, you can try using an external power source for the deserializer, checking the signal integrity of the FPC cable, and ensuring that the configuration settings of both devices are compatible. If the issue persists, you may want to contact AlliedVision’s support team for further assistance.

Found out I need an adapter since the pinout of my AV deserializer was shorting the CSI2 input port from the nano.
