NSight 4 Win64 installation failure

I have both VS 2012 and VS 2013. CUDA 6 installed fine, NSight would not install. Here is a piece of the installation log:

CAQuietExec: Error 0x800700ff: Command line returned an error.
CAQuietExec: Error 0x800700ff: CAQuietExec Failed
CustomAction QtExecInstallDevEnv2012Setup.A23552ED_7AE6_4A55_B0D3_2A792C7C38E2 returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

You need more information… what command failed? You need to add more messages from the last lines of the log for that to have any meaning.
See for example:
http://ugts.org/data/ugts/document/2/1/15.aspx

I suspect that it might be related to the fact that you have VS 2013 installed, but no proof of it, but that a lot of the failures I’ve seen on installation from other users have been because they had multiple VS versions installed.

I’m not sure any amount of verbosity is going to help here: it all points at the same custom action QtExecInstallDevEnv2012Setup.A23552ED_7AE6_4A55_B0D3_2A792C7C38E2 which is a black box… I suspect you’re right in your assumption. I have seen folks reporting similar issues on this forum, though, without much resolution besides such drastic measures as reinstalling Windows. ) I think it’s up to NVIDIA devs to fix the bug.

You might want to submit a bug report against the NSight installer… presumably someone will be able to track down why your install is failing.

If you haven’t installed the latest service pack to Visual Studio 2012, I believe it’s up to Update 4 at this point. Try that and retry the Nsight standalone installation and see if it’s resolved. Installing the update might be enough to correct whatever happens to be broken that causes the installer to fail.

If that doesn’t work, you could try completely uninstalling VS2012, installing the latest update 4, and reinstalling Nsight… (I know, quite a pain, but worth a shot)

) Yep, I’ve already done all that (uninstall, reinstall, standalone installation, etc). No joy. )) I still haven’t tried uninstalling VS 2013 and installing then. I’ll try that. At this point, I think, I will follow your advice about filing the bug.
