Nsight Systems Version Mismatch prevents Remote Profiling on Thor Target

Problem Description

I am unable to connect to the target Thor device using the Nsight Systems GUI from my host machine. The connection fails due to a version mismatch between the Host and the Target. The error message suggests that the specific target binary directory is missing.

  1. Error Message

When attempting to connect via the GUI, the following error is displayed:

This version of Nsight Systems does not support profiling on the selected target. Please download Nsight Systems CLI version (2026.1.1.204-261137176666v0) from https://developer.nvidia.com/nsight-systems/get-started and install it on target device to enable support.

4. Steps Taken to Resolve

Attempt 1: Host Installation via Official Guide

  • Source: NVIDIA Get Started Guide

  • Action: Downloaded and installed both the .deb and .run files on the Host Machine.

  • Expectation: I expected the installation to automatically push or generate the required support packages (specifically /opt/nvidia/nsight-systems/2026.1.1/target-linux-tegra-armv8) on the Target device for remote profiling.

  • Observation: The installation completed, but the specific folder for the Tegra target (target-linux-tegra-armv8) was not generated in /opt/nvidia/nsight-systems/2026.1.1/. This prevents me from manually pushing the update to the target.

  • Result: The directory was not created on the target as well in the Host PC, and the version on the target remains outdated (2025.3.3), causing the mismatch error.

Attempt 2: NVIDIA SDK Manager

  • Action: Downloaded SDK Manager to attempt installing support packages via that tool.

  • Blocker: The SDK Manager does not support Ubuntu 24.04 (Host OS), so I am unable to proceed with this method.

Request for Support

  1. Since the target-linux-tegra-armv8 directory is missing from the Host installation (v2026.1.1), where can I download the standalone CLI installer for the Thor/Tegra target?

  2. Is there a workaround to get the required target binaries without downgrading my Host OS to use SDK Manager?

@abuszta can you help the user with this?

The Nsight Systems version you have installed on your host computer does not support profiling Jetson (“Missing directory with target binaries“ error).

Official way of installing Nsight Systems with support for profiling Jetson is via SDK Manager - it is bundled as part of the Jetson development suite in the NVIDIA Jetpack™ SDK.

As an alternative, it should be fine to install on target device Linux ARM CLI version that is provided on Download page (Nsight Systems 2026.1.1 Arm Servers and NVIDIA Grace CLI Only). After installing this version, try connecting again from host device, and let me know if this fixes the problem for you.

Thank you for the quick response.
I have installed the shared Linux ARM CLI.
(Nsight Systems 2026.1.1 Arm Servers and NVIDIA Grace CLI Only)

Below the details:
adas@tegra-ubuntu:/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems-cli/2026.1.1$ ls
EULA.txt bin documentation host-linux-armv8 target-linux-sbsa-armv8
adas@tegra-ubuntu:/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems-cli/2026.1.1$ pwd
/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems-cli/2026.1.1
adas@tegra-ubuntu:/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems-cli/2026.1.1$.

Still while trying to do remote profiling from the UI. Getting Failure as mentioned in below snipped.

Currently the installation files are present in “/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems-cli/2026.1.1” directory.
Do I need to manually copy to the nsight-systems directory “/opt/nvidia/nsight-systems/2026.1.1” ??

Sorry for not updating earlier - I have missed your response.

There was an issue with detection of Nsight Systems installed on target (internal bug 5644130). It was fixed in 2026.2.1, so please try with newest available version and let me know if the problem is still there.
