NVIDIA 4000 on ESXi 6.0 U3 VDGA

Hello All,

I have a problem with configuration for NVIDIA 4000 as VDGA to Windows 10 VM on ESXi 6.0 U3 host. Passthrough configured on host, and video card + hdmi been added to VM. VM started without any issue, but I can’t install drivers on VM. All drivers mark video card with "yellow action mark" and "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

Can someone please point me to a right direction or maybe to correct drivers.

I tried:
\NVIDIA\370.12
368.86-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql
377.55-quadro-grid-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql
342.00-quadro-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql

Thanks.
Stas

Hi,

which Nvidia 4000? Code 43 is a generic error and indicates that the driver couldn’t load. I assume the board you’re trying to Passthrough is not supported. You need a supported board (Tesla or Quadro with NMOS support) to load the driver properly.

Simon

Weird, this card worked fine as PCI passthrough on ESXi 6.5 U1, for some reason doesn’t work with the same configuration on ESXi 6.0 U3…

At the same time NVIDIA 2000 works fine with PCI passthrough on ESXi 6.0U3.
