NVIDIA setting panel empty after driver installed

Looking at the recommendation of the following post

me@Linux01:~$ nvidia-smi
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

me@Linux01:~$ nvidia-settings

ERROR: NVIDIA driver is not loaded

me@Linux01:~$ sudo apt install nvidia-driver-460

nvidia-driver-460 is already the newest version (460.80-0ubuntu0.20.04.2).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 4 not upgraded.
me@Linux01:~$uname -a

What is really driving me nuts is that it looks all OK from the UI ? ? ?

Any help to have the second monitor detected as it can be done with the “nouveau” driver.
