Screen freezed after nvidia driver install in ubuntu-18.04

I installed nvidia-driver-440 after rebooting, i checked nvidia-smi,
i got the following error:

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

Before installing, i did clean un-installation. I tried even for driver-390 also. Still i faced same problem.
i checked prime-select query and it shows ‘nvidia’. If i do manual switch nvidia->intel->nvidia, after reboot login screen will be freezed. I have to go in recovery mode and the following instruction to be given in recovery mode to boot PC without any problem.

prime-select intel

Please help me to enable nvidia driver in the PC.

Please disable secure boot in bios and delete /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Problem is resolved and NVIDIA is blacklisted in /lib/modeprobe.d/blacklist_nvidia.conf. I deleted and rebooted the PC. Then NVIDIA drivers are enabled.
Thank you very much for response
