Powering Jetson Orin Nano Kit with power tool battery

Hi All,

I have a Jetson Orin Nano Dev Kit and I want to make it mobile like in a sense where i can just power it from a bettery instead of the provided power supply.
I also happen to have a power tool battery with 18V output and 5.0 Ah.

Is it safe to wire the battery to a power jack and operate it from there?

Thanks in advance!

Please refer to the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit Carrier Board Specification

Many developers/customers are using battery to power Jetson Orin NX/Nano based products like drones and robots. 18V is in operating range of the dev kit and should be safe. However, assuming you will be charging the battery externally and not when connected to the dev kit. You may have to experiment with your chosen battery and as long as it can provide the peak current required by your application running on the dev kit without significant drop in battery voltage it should work.
