Request for Official Nvidia Driver Support on musl-based Linux Systems

Dear Nvidia Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to respectfully request official support for musl libc in the Nvidia proprietary driver stack. As you may know, musl is rapidly gaining popularity within the Linux community, powering prominent distributions such as Void Linux, Alpine Linux, and the Gentoo musl profile. This growing adoption is driven by musl’s clean design, minimalistic approach, and superior suitability for containerized environments, especially Docker.

Musl’s lightweight and efficient architecture make it an ideal choice for modern systems, embedded devices, and containerized workflows where reducing overhead and increasing security are paramount. These attributes have led to an expanding user base and a thriving ecosystem centered around musl-based distributions.

From the perspective of Nvidia GPU users and developers, official musl support would be a game-changer. Imagine the potential to run Nvidia GPUs with full driver functionality inside lightweight Docker containers based on musl — unlocking new possibilities for AI development, machine learning workloads, and high-performance compute tasks with much smaller container footprints and faster startup times.

Nvidia drivers have made tremendous progress in performance, stability, and feature support over recent years, setting industry standards for graphics, compute, and AI acceleration. Bringing that same level of excellence and seamless integration to musl-based systems would not only meet a clear demand but also position Nvidia as a forward-thinking leader catering to emerging trends in Linux system design and containerized infrastructure.

Many users like myself and broader communities are eagerly looking forward to an official musl-compatible Nvidia driver, which would greatly simplify deployments, reduce workarounds, and ensure compatibility with cutting-edge, minimal Linux systems.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope Nvidia will embrace musl support soon and continue to revolutionize Linux-based computing environments for all users.
