This is a minor issue but i would like to understand what is happening.
I use a Samsung 55" 8K TV via HDMI. GPU is a nvidia 4070 with the latest driver. Desktop is KDE wayland and OS is Manjaro Linux (testing branch).
I use 8k/60Hz and everything works fine.
When i turn off the TV and turn it on again without suspending + resuming the PC, the 8k resolution will be lost and i can select only 4k and at only 30Hz. xrandr confirms the loss of resolution support.
This problem is fixed by suspending and resuming the PC.
Not many people use 8K TVs but there are quite some who use 4k TVs and high refresh rates. Do you have a similar problem? I am assuming it is due to a lack of DPMS support by the TV but i really don’t know.
