RTX 2070 HDMI bug that exists accross drivers and Operating systems

RTX 2070 Super
Intel I-7 4770k
Triple Monitor Setup
Audio over HDMI to Pioneer A/V receiver

Works fine in windows.

In Linux my HDMI out cuts out every few seconds. This is the HDMI out on the RTX 2070 Super going into my A/V reciever. Audio and video play fine and then about every 5-10 seconds audio glitches and monitor goes blank and the returns to normal.

I have reproduced this bug in latest version (fresh installs) of Ubuntu, Mint, and Manjaro.

I have also tried current and rollback official Nvidia drivers
I have tried propreitary drivers.
Same behavior.

However, boot into Windows 10, and it works fine.

Thanks for your time.

Not sure if DMESG output is helpful it does mention HDMI

I would also like to add that if i select a different audio output, then the previously glitching video works fine. So i think that narrows it down to an audio bug or bug that only appears when using audio and video over HDMI at the same time.

Maybe pulseaudio’s suspend feature:

Thanks for the reply, will give that a try when I get home and report the results.

I would love to use Linux full time, and this is the only thing stopping me at the moment.

I see the same issue, with RTX 2070 running Ubuntu 19. But I use my notebook’s internal sound and the screen goes on/off/on. Actually switching my audio TO the HDMI monitor and back to internal temporarily fixed the issue. I assumed it was a bad HDMI cable, but I have changed it to a new cable and issue persisted.

Screen is also a 4K display…
