Hi,
I’m using an RTX 4060 gaming laptop and I’m honestly pretty disappointed with how things are going lately.
After installing Windows update KB5074109, performance and stability haven’t felt the same. I’ve noticed inconsistent FPS, occasional stutters, and just overall behavior that wasn’t there before the update. It feels like something between the driver and the update isn’t working properly.
What makes this more frustrating is that I’ve seriously considered switching to Linux. I actually want to. But gaming performance there is just not on the same level. I’m seeing performance drops that can go up to around 30% compared to Windows depending on the game. That’s a huge difference on a gaming laptop. Losing that much performance just to change OS isn’t realistic.
On top of that, hybrid GPU laptops still feel complicated on Linux. Wayland support is inconsistent, setup isn’t smooth, and it just doesn’t feel like a polished experience yet.
The hardware itself is great. The RTX 4060 is powerful. But the driver experience is what’s holding it back.
I just want stable drivers on Windows that don’t break after major updates, and Linux support that doesn’t come with a big performance penalty. A lot of us would switch if the experience was actually equal.
Please improve driver reliability and Linux gaming performance. The GPU deserves better software support.
