RTX4080 + LG 45GX950: Artifacts with DP + 165hz not working with HDMI 2.1

Hi,

I just got the LG 45GX950 and I have issues with DisplayPort and HDMI specific to this monitor. I did not have issues on my previous dual-monitor setup (hd@60hz via HDMI + 2k@144hz via DP)

Specs:
Monitor: LG 45GX950 (LG UltraGear™ 45" OLED Dual-Mode 5K2K Gaming Monitor | LG DE | LG DE)

System is a mostly vanilla Linux Mint (X11)
OS: Linux Mint 22.1 x86_64
Kernel: 6.8.0-58-generic
DE: Cinnamon 6.4.8
WM: Mutter (Muffin)
WM Theme: cinnamon (Mint-Y)
Theme: Mint-Y-Dark-Aqua [GTK2/3]
GPU: RTX 4080 Founders Edition
NVIDIA Driver Version: 570.144
NVML Version: 12.570.144

1) Issues with DisplayPort:
I get Artifacts as in this Video. The colors match the background or other parts of the screen.

I tested

  • Monitor Setting to DP Version to 1.4 or 2.1
  • HDR is off
  • VRR enabled or disabled
  • My previous DP-Cable and the included DP-Cable
  • different DP Ports on the GPU

2) Issues with HDMI
During debugging I switched to HDMI instead, which does not show any artifacts and works fine. But there is still another issue as I can’t run the Monitor with 5120x2160@165hz which should be possible.
The Screen just blacks out and nothing works (not even the Monitors OSD opens). After some time, it switches back to 100hz.

In dmesg I found this error:

Not sure if its relevant, but using HDMI, the Display is not recognized as LG as with the DisplayPort connection, it just states Unknown 44"

Any tips for further debugging? And I read some hotfixes for the 50 Series specific to this monitor, but I have a 40 Series and quite different issues

Driver 580 has released today with some fixes around things like HDMI. Are you able to test if this resolved the issues?

I use linux mint and the driver manager does not provide the 580 yet. I’ll let you know once I installed and tested it.

I have a 5090 and LG 45GX950 and I can’t get 5k2k @ 165Hz going on driver 580.

Still no 165hz with the LG 45GX950 on Linux Mint 22.2 (Kernel 6.8.0-90-generic) with Driver Version 580.95.05
