Glitches in the bottom right in browsers 565.77 4080

Hi there!

I’ve installed Linux last week and I’ve been having some very specific graphic issues.

When using a web browser, sometimes I get some weird glitches in the bottom right corner of the screen.

The easiest way I’ve found to replicate it is to detach a video player and to move it there, but it is not the only time it happens. It’s just difficult to reproduce otherwise.

I’ll note that the issue happens no matter the browser or the desktop environment. I’ve tried with brave, firefox, vivaldi etc and both in CachyOS KDE and Manjaro Gnome. The problem is still there.

I mentioned this in the general discussion for the current driver and some people recommended some possible solutions, sadly none of them actually fixed the problem, but I think it helped narrow down the cause.

Apparently it is a similar (if not the same) issue shown in: DisplayPort DSC 4K@240Hz flickering artifacts

It seems to be something related to DSC, as when I lower the refresh rate of my monitor, the problem disappears.

Currently I’m using a 32 inches 165hz Samsung odyssey neo g7 with my RTX 4080 with the provided displayport cable.

I’d like to mention that none of this issues are present in my windows installation.

Some evidence:

Thanks!

Worth noting that I am seeing this on a 4090 and 7950X3D in Linux as well, it’s anything that is GPU accelerated so not just browsers but like Steam and stuff too.

240hz LG OLED in specific as well.

Hi @planedrop @magnummer

I have seen similar issue internally and updated the same in another thread

Engineering team is currently investigating the issue and share further feedback once it is available.

I’ve got absolutely the same problem in Zen Browser which is Firefox based with 240HZ OLED 4k display connected over display port.

The same region of display for me - probably some end of a buffer or something

I’m glad to hear you’re working on it internally, this is actually great news, thank you.

I’m having the same issue since switching to a 4K monitor. It seems to only be happening with 3840x2160@160.000 and not 3840x2160@143.851.

Looking forward to a fix soon!

Thank you! Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Any updates on this? This is still present in the new beta driver 595.45.

Same issue here, on 4080, Brave browser and CachyOS

An update on this issue:
I’m currently using version 595.58.03 of the driver on CachyOS and the problem seems to no longer exist.
Tried many scenarios that used to produce the odd glitching and cant seem to reproduce it.

Seems to have been fixed. Thanks!

I’m also on 595.58.03 and the issue definitely still exists on my end. It’s also noticeable during gameplay of some OpenGL games (e.g. Xash3D).

@amrits Any updates about this?

The new beta driver 610.43.02 still doesn’t fix this issue. This has been a major bug in the driver for over a year now and the lack of communication from NVIDIA is really frustrating. Is there anything I can do to help with fixing this issue? @amrits @aplattner
