When the board is powered from the power supply that comes with the kit, the board will power on immediately when the button is pressed. However, when the board is powered at 12V from a battery, the board requires a double tap to power on. Is this expected behaviour? If so, why is that?
I don’t know why, but others have had similar experiences. What was found is that adding a large capacitor solves the issue. The implication is that voltage right at the moment of powering on is required to not drop as current draw spikes.
Hi wesley, this could be caused by the insufficient load capability of battery. If you probe the VDD_IN from a battery, you might see a drop that could cause power up failure.
