Been struggling with this issue for the past few days.
I’m working on a dual boot system (Ubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10). Whenever I’m in Windows, both monitors work fine. The primary is connected through DP, meanwhile secondary is connected through HDMI.
In Ubuntu, it is hit or miss whether the HDMI monitor will connect. It will never start with the display on, but occasionally xrandr will show that is connected and I just have to configure the output for everything to work. Other times, however, require that I do a series of unplugging/replugging of HDMI cable until it displays in xrandr. This in itself would make me think its a hardware issue, but why does it work reliably on Windows?
I’ve tried a series of things that have had no success in solving the issue:
- Moving between lightdm and gdm
- Uninstalling and reinstalling 470 drivers manually
- Downgrading to older drivers (460)
- Purging all nvidia drivers and reinstalling 470 drivers through apt
Any advice / guidance would be awesome.
