My video card was working perfectly. I followed the suggestions here and did
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-update
and I used “Software & Updates” to upgrade my driver from 470 to nvidia-driver-530 (proprietary) .
After rebooting I get an error “Failed to start detect the available GPUs and deal with any system changes” and the generic motherboard video card is being used.
nvidia-smi
No devices were found
sudo lshw -c video
shows VGA compatible controller but lists my card underneath
nvidia-bug-report.log (1.9 MB)
