Unable to setup A100 on an MSI Z490-A Pro motherboard

We have installed an A100 PCIe 80GB] (rev a1) on an MSI Z490-A Pro motherboard (latest BIOS version V2.E0) running Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) (kernel 4.19.289-2 (2023-08-08)) with NVIDIA driver 530.30.02, but cannot get it to be initialized. We’d welcome any advice you can offer.

At boot time the following messages appear indicating that the card cannot be initialized.

We have configured the BIOS settings as recommended in other posts:

  • CSM disabled
  • PCI above 4GB memory enabled (by default in the current BIOS version)
  • Fast boot disabled
  • Secure boot disabled

We also tried enabling “Resize BAR”, but this prevents the machine from booting. (The BIOS initialization stops with the EZ Debug LED for DRAM on.)

We have tried both the kernel pci=realloc=off and pci=realloc startup parameters.

That kernel and that distro are too old, wouldn’t you be able to try with Debian 12 ( if Debian is a must )

We upgraded the operating system to Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm), which includes the NVIDIA driver 525.125.06-1~deb12u1, but again the driver cannot connect with the card, failing with the following message.
