Update Available *again*

I’m seeing the following message on the DGX Spark Dashboard:

System Updates: Update your device now to improve performance and stability

The issue is that this notification appears almost daily. After I apply the update, the message disappears—but then returns the next day prompting another update.

I’m unsure whether this is expected behavior (i.e., there really are daily updates) or a bug causing the notification to reappear incorrectly.

Suggested solution: Please publish an update log or changelog detailing what each update includes. This would help users understand what’s being changed and confirm that updates are actually being applied.

Thanks!

Many of the updates are coming from Ubuntu themselves.

you can see the list if you SSH into the machine by running

apt upgrade
apt list --upgradeable

on my system right now, I see:

spark-bcc2:~# apt list --upgradable

If you check for upgrades from the command line some of the available packages are deferred and this might trigger the dashboard to show there are updates.

These are the updates available on my Sparks as of 12/16/2025:

The following upgrades have been deferred due to phasing:
  gnome-settings-daemon gnome-settings-daemon-common gstreamer1.0-pipewire libmbim-glib4 libmbim-proxy libmbim-utils
  libpipewire-0.3-0t64 libpipewire-0.3-modules libspa-0.2-bluetooth libspa-0.2-modules pipewire pipewire-alsa pipewire-audio
  pipewire-bin pipewire-pulse

I don’t use the Workbench so I can’t verify if the deferred packages are the issue.

I have disabled phased updates in my machines like this:

root@spark:~# cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99-Phased-Updates
Update-Manager::Always-Include-Phased-Updates "true";
APT::Get::Always-Include-Phased-Updates "true";

I’m not sure if this is best practice.

it’s also worthy to notice this, which could cause some weirdness:

The dashboard should ideally just show the CUDA level updates and not all the ubuntu nonsense.

Or show both but specify which level they are
