USD Composer renders characters

How do DAZ Studio characters render realistic skin textures in USD Composer???

  1. Well first have you managed to get your Character into USD Composer 2023.2.5 successfully ? It has textures ?
  2. You can use the REALTIME renderer for fast realtime results but for more realistic results you want to use our RTX Interactive - Pathtracing mode. Mode 2.
  3. You would look to enable some Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) for both the render engine and the skin material. If the material supplied by DAZ is not realistic enough, we provide a great library of pre-made materials.
  4. Good lighting.

I hope the official can release a tutorial video, including how to use lighting, (sss), and the official prefabricated material library。
Please help me solve this headache problem。
thank you!

Well that would be you just learning the basics of the software for lighting and materials. There are plenty of videos on our Nvidia Omniverse YouTube channels.

Here is an example of creating a pre-defined Skin Shader material using USD Composer

And here are the Sub Surface Scattering options in REALTIME

And Path Tracing

I know all these basics, and I have also watched your material videos on YouTube, but there is no information about character rendering. The characters I rendered are not realistic enough. I hope to have your tutorial videos so that I can start creating faster

Well honestly we do not support any character workflows. We do not even encourage it. Omniverse it not designed for characters, let alone realistic ones. I am not sure what help you need but characters are like any other kind of 3D rendering. Good materials, good lighting, good camera work. If you know all of that you should be fine.

We do have one really realistic character face in the EXAMPLES tab in USD Composer 2023.2.5

Okay, got it

Excuse me, will Machinima not be updated in the future?

Correct. Machinima has been discontinued for a long time. Everything is updated in USD Composer.

I watched a video on YouTube that showed a tutorial on combining face and body in USD Composer, but lower teeth, eyebrows, eyelashes, and eyeballs didn’t move, only face did. This makes A2F files not fully usable in USD Composer, and they are also complex.
A small suggestion is to update the A2F toolbox in Machinima to USD Composer, so that A2F files can be fully applied in USD Composer, which is also simple and convenient.

Well A2F supports all of that directly so use A2F to animate the complete face before you try to save it to a usd file and use in Composer. But this forum does not directly support Audio 2 Face. For that you need to go to our NVIDIA Developer Discord

Is it convenient to provide the website link for NVIDIA Developer Discord

NVIDIA Developer Discord , For me, it belongs to the external network and I cannot access it, nor can I use server proxies to access it.
Can you provide feedback to your developers on updating the A2F toolbox from Machinima to USD Composer.
Creating facial animations in A2F, body animations in Maya, and merging and rendering them in USD Composer is the process of my animated short videos. Currently, I am unable to apply all A2F facial animations (eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, teeth) in USD Composer, and I need this update from USD Composer very much.
thank you.

Ok I will pass it along.

Ok,Thank you!
Hope to receive a reply as soon as possible

May I ask if the developers have responded to the update of USD Composer

Hello! It’s been almost a month, haven’t you received a response yet?
