I’m actually incredulous you did solve the problem, and I’m actually going to copy paste another response I just gave to someone else on wayland.
“What you are describing is typical of wayland+nvidia, they don’t work well together, and weird bugs/instability will appear.
In fact, the baseline for determining whether or not
nvidia+everything else is working properly, is using xorg. So if you
switch display servers, (if xorg is installed) by logging out → clicking
the top right icon → selecting to use the xorg option → logging back
in, and then test your system, you can quickly find out whether or not
it’s a wayland(experimental) problem or perhaps something else.”
I’ve actually ran my system like that before, with 4 sticks of ram, and with different frequencies distributed between each of the two different brands, so one brand had one frequency, and the other had a different one, and I remember it would present instability issues, but only after I had filled up the ram enough, to actually have programs running across the second set of ram sticks, running at a different frequency, than the first set, which is really difficult to notice at first, because it means that you have to have A LOT of programs running, to actually start to draw resources from beyond the first set of ram sticks, running at a disparate frequency.
I couldn’t just reboot my computer, and run one or two apps, like a browser/steam and then problems would appear(like you described), I would have to use the computer for extended periods of time, and run lots of programs, before it would actually reach into the second set of ram sticks, where instability would appear.
