Video Encoder/Decoder CPU usage in TK1

Hi,

I am encoding and decoding video of 720P in parallel. I put TK1 CPU in performance mode and observed the results.Below are logs.

The average CPU usage for this process is around 30%.

Is this the maximum performance obtained by TK1 processor?

Also there is one more unit called “VDE”(Video Decode Engine) which is also running at maximum speed during this process. ie VDE @ 480 . What is the exact role of VDE in my process?

OS : NVIDIA’s offical Android 5.0.1 for Jetson

CPU usage is dependent on your current running processes.

VDE stands for Video Decode Engine, a Tegra hardware acceleration block dedicated to
decoding compressed video in various formats.
