Hi! I just started working with VR Works SDK. I found there is a VRWorks Unity plugin. There is probably no such plugin available for the Unreal engine. I saw VRWorks SLI is available. But I do not think it contains all the features (i.e., variable rate shading).
I am asking for cross-checking with the experts. I want to use the eye-tracked variable rate shading feature.
Most AR/VR/XR work has transitioned to CloudXR and support for VRWorks is very limited, concentrating on HMD manufacturers. The SLI version will not help either, since SLI has been deprecated with newer GPUs as well.
So you are correct, there is no Unreal specific plugin available, I am sorry.
Also, I guess VRWorks has also been deprecated in 2019. What would be the most suitable NVIDIA’s SDK to work with VR at this moment? CloudXR I guess mostly for production, I am looking for something more on-device.
Beside CLoudXR there is nothing specific to NVIDIA GPUs in terms of local VR usage at the moment. It all depends on the engine or game support, how well it fits into things like SteamVR etc. In that sense locally it is all up to the higher level rendering tools and APIs.
In that sense, I’m a bit confused about spending time with vrworks learning. The developers’ support and documentation for vrworks are really limited. At this moment also cannot see any alternative to vrworks.
