I also have a Samsung 980 Pro and feel happy with it. Someone else’s mileage may vary and may further share.

No, not more than AGX Orin devkit thermal solution including its fan.
I haven’t been seeing fallbacks to Gen3, but I did not investigate with heavy stress tests.
