Boot usb?

Hello,

I need to know if you can boot by USB without using the sd?

thanks

No. When the bootloaders run, the usb controller isn’t initialized so you at least need the SD to hold the system partitions and the /boot/ directory. The root filesystem can go on a USB device though.

And if the SD slot is damaged, what can be done?

Is the little spring broken? You could try sending it back for RMA. The issue happens With Raspbery Pi < 3 as well, which is why with Pi >= 3 the microsd card slot has no spring.

How should I proceed to send it back to RMA? thanks
