Hi! I received a Jetson Nano as a gift from a friend who forgot the password for the main account I see when plugging in the Jetson Nano to power. MicroSD card that came with it is not working (tested on separate computer) but Jetson is still booting up Ubuntu with an account set up. I can’t log into it, what should I do to just start from scratch and be able to use this Jetson Nano?
You should be aware that there are models of Jetsons with the SD card slot on the module itself, and these are developer kits. There is another model which has eMMC on the module, and thus any SD card slot would be on the carrier board (and not on the module itself). Answers will differ drastically depending on what the model is.
In the case of an eMMC model where the SD card slot (if any) is on the carrier board, those are commercial models rather than being called a developer’s kit. Commercial eMMC modules always use a third party carrier board. Very often third party carrier boards require a slightly different device tree (firmware) to fully function. The Jetson software on their web site is intended for the SD card model (the dev kit). Sometimes a third party manufacturer will state that you can use the NVIDIA flash software directly, and at other times it will require a patch from the third party (which basically tells the module about the carrier board layout). This means that if this is a dev kit, then everything you need is here (but a dev kit won’t boot without the SD card); if this is a third party carrier board, then you need to consult them to see about which software is for flashing.
