I have a Lenovo 16IAH10 with a 8GB 5070. My monitor is an ASUS ROG 32inch 4k display. Looking at the logs (as suggested in the previous thread) is seems like at some point it identified it as 4k, but only momentarily. The HDMI port on my laptop is 2.1
The same setup (monitor port + HDMI cable, both running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS) was working perfectly fine on my old ASUS laptop (integrated AMD GPU), so hardware should not be an issue here. I will also attach my logs below. Thank you for the help!
Later edit: when plugging the monitor into my old laptop, I noticed the same issue, which was very weird since I have been using it without a problem for the last month, therefore I thought maybe it’s the monitor.
After factory reset of the monitor it works perfectly fine with all my devices again.
This issue can be considered sorted and the ticket can be closed. I will explain what I think happened below, in case it’s of any help for others.
When installing the NVIDIA drivers initially (my monitor was plugged in but there was no signal being received through the HDMI port that goes straight into the GPU) for a split second the monitor was showing as 4K and then the issue appeared. I assume the driver installation while the device was wired through HDMI caused it.
Thanks for the help and sorry for any wasted time, I should’ve maybe tried this earlier.
