I found that the same STEP file that could be successfully imported in version 4.1 can no longer be imported in version 4.2. The console returns the error “Could not open asset.” I checked the extensions and found that version 4.1 used Asset Importer Core v2.5.5, while version 4.2 uses Asset Importer Enterprise v2.5.5. Does the new version now require an Enterprise license to import external STEP files?
I am helping another user debug a simular issue. We use the CAD Converter to convert STEP files to USD. Please ensure you have the CAD Converter extension enabled. If you’d like you can also review the on going debug session in this forums thread.
