Hi there,
i am not able to import any STEP file in isaac sim 4.2.0 via File–>Import. There is no mesh imported to stage and after trying to import the following messages appear, but the same error occurs even after reopening isaac sim and omiverse launcher.
How did you obtain version 202.2.1? Have you tried using other versions? Could you provide detailed steps to reproduce this issue and share the STEP file?
sorry my mistake. of course it’s CAD Converter version 201.2.1.
i had that problem with every STEP file i tried to convert, including the STEP files from
For importing i did the following steps:
File → Import
i selected the STEP file
then i selected Convert visible only, generate projection UV’s , enable instancing
and import to stage
where can i find the specific kit log file you need?
Scroll down to Extension System Cache, Click Open button.
Ensure that only the new versions of these three extensions are present. If others have the same extension name but different versions, please delete the older versions. This is a cache folder, and it’s possible that the old versions were not cleaned from the cache during the update to the latest CAD Converter extensions.
@feneu005
We have been able to reproduce the issue you have reported. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and everyone in the community.
To resolve the problem, please follow these process steps. Could you please try them and report back?
Disable all the loaded CAD converter extensions:
omni.kit.converter.cad
omni.kit.converter.common
Install / Update to CAD CONVERTER 201.2.1 and the 500.0.26 extensions released with CC 201.2.1 (keep Disabled), and select “Autoload.”
omni.kit.converter.cad = 201.2.1
omni.kit.converter.common = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.hoops_core = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.dgn_core = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.jt_core = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.hoops = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.dgn = 500.0.26
omni.kit.converter.jt = 500.0.26
Close and re-open Isaac Sim 4.2.0.
Extensions should now Autoload all of the correct versions listed in step 2. The STEP files and other CAD formats should now convert to USD without errors on Linux systems.
Thank you @kecollins
i followed the steps and i am able to import the step files successfully, now. only one thing remains, i still got the same messages as in my first post, every time i import a file.
We have noted the annoyance of this popup message, but it can be ignored. For material MDL conversion, we change RTX render settings on the USD file, which sometimes requires the app session to be closed and restarted. However, this message always occurs even if you don’t have transparent materials. In a future release, we will address this user experience.
