Control several ethernet interfaces with Thor

Hy,

In a customer project, we are tasked with creating a motherboard for a Jetson Thor Series module. Three separate Ethernet interfaces are to be available:

  1. Standard 1000 Base TX with RJ 45 connector for direct connection to the PC
  2. 5 x 1000 Base TX with RJ 45 connectors with switch IC on the board for connecting fast sensors (cameras)
  3. 10 x 100 Base-T1 automotive Ethernet with switch on the board for networking with other components in the system (low bandwidth)

My questions:
a) How can I generate separate Ethernet ports? How many Ethernet ports does the Thor have?
b) A suitable switch for the 5 x 1000 Base TX would be, for example, the KSZ9897STXI-TR. How can I connect it to the Thor?
c) The easiest way to generate T1 Automotive Ethernet is via the NXP SJA1110AEL, of which I need two for 10x T1. How can I connect these two to the Thor?

The simplest solution for all tasks seems to be an SGMII interface. Does the Thor have SGMII outputs? If so, how many separate ones?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Harald

Jetson Thor supports 4x 25GbE MGBE controllers connected to QSFP28. You will need to use external ethernet switch/es to support the ethernet topology needed for your use case.

Hy, thanks a lot for your quick response. Can you name a sample ethernet switch IC that would provide SGMII interface to the SJA1110 and KSZ9897STXI-TR? Can you maybe even give an example on how to connect to Thor? (Which pins, SW configuration).

Regards

Harald

We do not a recommendation for now. Suggest to check with ethernet switch IC vendors.
