CUDA root access only on Optimus system

Hi there,

I’ve installed OpenSUSE 11.3 and CUDA 3.2 with the 260.19.21 developer drivers on my laptop, an Alienware 11xR2 with 335M GFX card running under Optimus.

After compiling the SDK samples and running deviceQuery under my usual login, it fails after not detecting a device. However, if I then run deviceQuery as root, it succeeds and then all subsequent attempts running under my usual user account also succeed.

I’d like to get this to work without having to jump through hoops, any assistance would be much appreciated.
