Error creating backup.img

Hi,
I want to create a backup image from my NX. This command should do the job :
sudo ./flash.sh -r -k APP -G backup.img jetson-xavier mmcblk0p1
but it gives me :
Error: return value 8
and backup.img no such file or directory

I just saw you are using custom board. If the vendor provides their own board config, please use their board config instead.

They have a documentation for cloning the image which says :

Cloning the Image
cd into the directory containing the L4T installation package on the host PC. The command
below will save the platform’s APP partition image to the specified file on the host.
$ sudo ./flash.sh -r -k APP -G backup.img platform mmcblk0p1
Where platform specifies the type of the target device:
• For Jetson AGX Xavier: jetson-xavier
• For Jetson TX2: jetson-tx2
• For Jetson TX1: jetson-tx1
• For Jetson Nano eMMC module: jetson-nano-emmc

The board name here is just those *.conf files as your comment.

Just make it easier to understand, if there is a board config with name “12345678.conf”, then you can use it in flash.sh as

sudo ./flash.sh 12345678 mmcblk0p1

Thus, use the board config name that matches your module. Because you are using custom board, I am not sure if your vendor needs to provide a config or not. Or they claim their board can work with our jetpack board config. If so, then I guess you shall use jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-emmc.conf

Your board config should be this one. But not any of them from jetpack.

So it should be in this directory because, the cloning guide specifies that

cd into the directory containing the L4T installation package on the host PC.

It’s in the /nvidia/nvidia_sdk/JetPack_4.5.1_Linux_JETSON_XAVIER_NX/Linux_for_Tegra path, and those config were those that I enumerated. So my actual config is probably one in this directory.

I don’t think so, but this may explain the reason why I can’t found this board config. I used sdkmanager to add the nvidia tools, but I don’t think I flashed it. My NX + Aetina carrier board works well.

But if I reflashed it, I should be able to copy the backup image created by the SDKM.

Checked the website of the vendor, they provide a package here. Please read the vendor site first.

I know I was just describing what I did.

  1. If their board doesn’t require specific board config, then you can use jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-emmc.conf to clone your board.

  2. Otherwise, If they provide their own board config and driver package, then you should use what they provided to do the clone work.

After contacting with the vendor, I can confirm that they just send the system (board + NX) ready to launch, and the user as no modification to do. I then explained my issued and they will get back to me when they can.
Using the command sudo ./flash.sh -r -k APP -G backup.img jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-emmc mmcblk0p1 is currently working, i will keep you updated.

Backup.img correctly created ! Please tell me if i’m wrong : It means that they use initial .conf file (jetson-xavier-nx-devkit-emmc.conf) then add their package, but it didn’t create a new .conf file ?
