ERROR: NVIDIA driver is not loaded, ubuntu 23.04, g_is_object (object) failed

Hi i’m a new linux user. whenever i run nvidia-settings this shows.

i tried looking for answers online but i have yet to find something that fits my problem(I think)
running dkms returns nothing as ubuntu-drivers devices
i hope this is a quick and easy fix
