Error setting up Jetson orin nano 8gb dev kit with sdk manager

Hi, I installed SDK manager on a ubuntu 24.04 machine and initially struggled to download all the jetpack 6.1 components and succeeded after 3 attempts. I had bought what I believe to be a orin nano super capable dev kit (firmware) from a suggested retailer after the announcement of the update/upgrade. I tried to install jetpack onto the dev kit (Nvme) but twice got an installation error while flashing the OS (first step). I am not an expert so not sure if its the downloads that were defective even though it shows okay in sdk manager, whether its the firmware that is not compatible even though I bought the kit after the announcement from Arrow.com, if its the usb cable or whether the Ubuntu version is the issue (list of things I could think of during searches on the error.

Hi,

Please refer to the sdk manager Host Operating System Compatibility Matrix.
Now officially support installing JP6.x is Ubuntu 20.04/22.04.

In sum:

  • you could get 20.04/22.04 physical machine (not a virtual machine) to flash the device.

Or

  • Download the BSP and root file system from the Download Center
  • Follow the QuickStart Guide to flash your device in your current Ubuntu 24.04

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I will follow the advice and install the appropriate version of Ubuntu and retry. I will post a follow up if its successful.

Hi,

I installed the correct Ubuntu version on the host machine and retried the SDK method as well as replacing the USB C cable to be sure. It again took a few attempts to download all the components but the install onto the jetson orin nano dev kit failed again at the same point (flashing the OS). I have attached one of the log files.

Could it be the firmware that causes this error or could it be that there was a problem with the downloaded components given that I had to try a few times?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

You could attach the whole .zip file for us to review.
