We are looking for the solution to transfer files from Windows 11 PC to Ubuntu installed on ‘Jetson AGX Orin developer kit (64GB)’ via USB 3.0 interface.
We have USB-Type A (3.0) on Windows PC and USB Type-C on Jetson device. While connected these 2 devices via USB-Type A to C cable, its unable to detect.
Some background to start with…
USB works only as a device or only as a host. For USB-C there is a bit of “Jedi trickery” involved in the wiring (which means the wiring can be used in either direction for USB-C, but not for other USB). USB type-A is always a host, and USB type-B is always a device. In the case of USB-C I have not used it in device mode, and so there might be differences in using the Linux “gadget” API to pretend to be a device, that that is where you would start.
Someone else was asking about something that was USB Gadget, although the purpose was different. You might check the “USB Gadget” part of this:
https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/how-to-directly-use-the-flash-command-to-flash-thor/354814/7
(the USB part of that post is valid for your question)
Typically the example code used by NVIDIA as device mode is this:
/opt/nvidia/l4t-usb-device-mode/
Keep in mind though that whatever filesystem type you use in the partition or content behind this is also that filesystem type to whatever device is trying to access it. I think it is VFAT for that example, which works with Windows. If you were to directly export some of the filesystem of the Jetson, then it would be ext4, which Windows has no clue to (also it would be a security nightmare).
