Feedback Wanted: Omniverse Korean Language Extension

Isaac Sim Version
5.1.0

Operating System
Windows 11

GPU Information

  • Model: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
  • Driver Version: 560.94

I’ve created a Korean Language Extension for Omniverse, based on the existing omni.kit.language.japanese extension, and modified it to fit Korean language needs.

How to try it:
Note: The omni.kit.language.core extension must be installed and enabled first.

  1. Download the zip file: omni.kit.language.korean-1.0.0.zip
    GitHub: Hongdrew/ov-ext-language-korean
  2. In Omniverse, open the Extension Manager β†’ click the Hamburger Menu β†’ select Import Extension β†’ choose the zip file β†’ check AutoLoad and Click RestartAPP
  3. Go to Preferences β†’ Language β†’ Select Korean (ko_KR)

I’ve tested it, and it seems that Korean can be entered and displayed in USD file properties, and Korean characters in file and folder paths are recognized correctly.

I’d greatly appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or suggestions for improvement!
Thank you for trying it out and helping improve the Omniverse experience for Korean users.

@andrew8311 this is fantastic! and thanks for taking your time to not only develop it but sharing with the community at large πŸ™Œ

@Simplychenable Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words.

Welcome to the community, and thank you for sharing this Korean Language Extension! This is a fantastic contribution that will greatly benefit our Korean-speaking users. πŸŽ‰

With Kit SDK 109.0.1, released after December 2025, official support for the Korean language extension has begun. Thank you to the NVIDIA development team for this update.

From my review, it appears that less commonly used Korean characters were excluded, resulting in a more concise and streamlined character set. I was wondering whether there was a specific reference or standard used when defining the Korean character table.

Although a bit late, Happy New Year!

Hi @andrew8311,

Great to hear that official Korean language support landed in Kit SDK 109.0.1 β€” and your community extension likely helped make the case for it! πŸŽ‰

Regarding your question about the character table standard used for the official Korean character set: that would be best answered by the Kit platform team. Since this is a Kit-level extension (omni.kit.language.core /
omni.kit.language.korean) rather than Isaac Sim specifically, I’d suggest reposting your question in Core Platform > Extensions where it’ll get better visibility with the right folks.

Since Kit SDK 109.0.1 includes official Korean support, this should carry forward into Isaac Sim 6.0.0.

I’m going to close this thread out since the original extension has been superseded by official support. Thanks again for the contribution β€” community work like this is exactly how platform improvements get noticed and prioritized.
