I’m not quite understanding why this is so difficult. The SD card flashing process fails, and we’re directed to use the SDK (which requires users to then have access to a Linux box of some sort)…then the SDK flash fails as well, and then we’re required to conjure up a UART cable? The onboarding process for these things are far from optimal to say the least and needs to be drastically improved if you want developers to onboard to these things easier.
I understand how it functions and why it is needed. What doesn’t make sense is the fact that the board is literally non functional out of the box for so many users and there’s no easy resolution to resolve it
I will report this situation. Please understand that engineers here can only provide you the real way to fix this problem.
I understand that the learning curve for a Jetson platform is not quite easy. If you are willing to go further, I can help check your log and see why the flash went failure.
There are also some questions from my side that I don’t know why are you flashing “5.1” version here. If you are new to this platform, why are you picking such old release for like released 2 years ago? And just to align, are you talking about jetpack5.1?
I just received the dev kit and the instructions if the firmware was out of date was to use the 5.1.3 SD card image in order to update the firmware before using the 6.1 image (as it wasn’t working for 6.1 either).
So I was not sure which flashing via the SDK would be required so I just proceeded to attempt both to try to get the board online.
I’ll dig up my UART cable and provide the logs from the board side along with the SDK logs.
Based on the above, should I provide the logs for attempting to flash 5.1 or 6.1 or both?
There are software called jetpack5.1.3 and 5.1. 5.1 is a very old one and 5.1.3 is quite new. If you are all saying “5.1”, then it could be quite misleading.
It seems more related to host PC setting too. What kind of host PC are you using?
Is it a native Ubuntu ? or some VM ? I saw Jetson side already booted up and try to enable usb device connection to your host, but it seems not able to launch.
You guys said you support Ubuntu WSL. This is really ridiculous. Can I swap this thing out with one that’s already actually functioning and up to date? Would it make more sense to ask the distributor for a refund?
It literally states it at the very beginning of the article: “SDK Manager supports flashing and installing SDKs on Jetson, Holoscan, and Ethernet Switch hardware from a Windows computer using WSL systems. To set up your environment, follow the instructions below.”
This needs to be corrected.
In addition, you didn’t answer my question. Should I just return the product at this point? If I continue to go through the process of installing Ubuntu on a machine (which again is over the top at this point) and the item is defective, what then? Will NVidia replace the device?
