Freezing and i2c timeout error on startup - GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - Ubuntu 22.04

On a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 LTS installation, I’m using nvidia-driver-525 (the recommended option nvidia-driver-525-open doesn’t recognize the video card). Video card: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
I get repeated freezes and crashes. Mouse and keyboard also freeze.
I attach the bug report: Dropbox - nvidia-bug-report.log.gz - Simplify your life

I noticed i2c timeout errors on start up, as well as several ACPI BIOS Errors that appeared after the proprietary driver installation.

nvidia-gpu 0000:01:00.3: i2c timeout error e0000000
ucsi_ccg 0-0008: i2c_transfer failed -110
ucsi_ccg 0-0008: ucsi_ccg_init failed - -110
ucsi_ccg: probe of 0-0008 failed with error -110

My kernel is 5.15.0-58-generic

Any help is appreciated

I have the exact same problem with the exact same configuration
, but with only the first 3 lines of errors. Anyone know what’s going on here?

Its currently just a guess, but I experience exactly the same problem with CachyOS Linux and GeForce RTX 2070. Funny that such old bugs never get solutions. But let’s give it a try:

$ journalctl -g i2c     # gives the interesting output
nvidia-gpu 0000:07:00.3: i2c timeout error e0000000
ucsi_ccg 8-0008: i2c_transfer failed -110
# as you reported, plus
org_kde_powerdevil[1276]: [  1276] Device /dev/i2c-7 lacks R/W permissions

So I will try to add me (the user) to group i2c. Let’s see if this solves the problem…
