- So restart via “recovery Mode”
- Driver Install via PPA
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
# no mistakes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get purge -y \*nvidia\* \*cuda\*
sudo apt-get install nvidia-driver-460
# everything installed perfectly without error messages
sudo systemctl reboot
after restarting the screen is dark - only the cursor can be seen at the top / left
Greetings Berni
Please check if secure boot is enabled in bios and disable it in that case.
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.
secure boot
is in bios disable
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (42.9 KB)
The driver is installed but doesn’t load. Please check for a blacklist file, run
grep nvidia /etc/modprobe.d/* /lib/modprobe.d/*
to find a file containing
blacklist nvidia
and remove it,
then run
sudo update-initramfs -u
A file was found
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf: blacklist nvidiafb
After a reboot, the screen remains dark ;(
OK. Make everything new again
I installed the system from USB-ISO new
BIOS:
- version is new: F34
- Secure Boot is disabled
Hardware:
- Graphics card: Geforce RTX 3060, 12 GB, Zotac (White Edition)
- Monitor: DELL S3221 QS (HDMI-0) original cable used
Operating system = Kubuntu 21.04 / 5.11.0-22-Generic
Graphics driver = 465.31
Bug Report as --safe-mode (otherwise the system is hanging)
nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (75.6 KB)
nvidia-nvml-temp1010.log (852 Bytes)
At least the driver loads now. Unfortunately, no X logs from previous boots got caught. Please enable journal persistence and creatte a new nvidia-bug-reportt.log after trying to do a normal boot.
OK. new test…

Command: nvidia-smi → generated
watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#18 stuct for 22s [irq/136-nvidia:1892]
no plan? no solution?
Find very weak, very expensive graphics card and just doesn’t work :(
NVIDIA should think about that…
